The story of Nuh (Noah) centers on his nine-hundred-and-fifty-year mission to call a deeply idolatrous people to the worship of the One God. After generations of persistent rejection and mockery, Allah commanded him to build a colossal Ark (ship), a task his people ridiculed since they were far from any sea. Nuh loaded the Ark with his few believers and pairs of every living creature, just before a Great Flood covered the entire earth. The Flood utterly destroyed the wicked disbelievers, including Nuh’s own disobedient son, thus establishing Nuh as the father of all subsequent humanity.
