Tafsir al-Jalalayn English Jalal ud-din al-Suyuti

Tafsir al-Jalalayn (The Commentary of the Two Jalals) is one of the most compact and widely read classical Sunni commentaries of the Qur’an. It was initiated by Imam Jalal ud-Din al-Mahalli (d. 864 AH), who completed the first half, and finalized by his student, the polymath Imam Jalal ud-Din as-Suyuti (d. 911 AH). The commentary is renowned for its extreme brevity, clarity, and simple style, providing only the most probable meaning of the verse with minimal elaboration on differing views, rhetoric, or jurisprudence. Its conciseness made it a staple textbook for centuries across the Islamic world, serving as an essential introductory text for students moving from the basic reading of the Qur’an to a deeper scholarly analysis.
