Abdallah ibn al-Zubayr al-Humaydi
Abdallah ibn al-Zubayr al-Humaydi (d. 834 CE / 219 AH) عبد الله بن الزبير الحميدي was a highly respected early Islamic scholar and a prominent student of Imam Muhammad ibn Idris al-Shafi’i, the founder of the Shafi’i school of jurisprudence.
Born and residing in Mecca, Al-Humaydi specialized primarily in Hadith (Prophetic traditions) and Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence). He is perhaps best known for transmitting much of Imam al-Shafi’i’s foundational legal doctrine (al-Madhhab al-Qadīm) and for compiling the Musnad of al-Humaydi, which is an early and important collection of Hadith reports organized by the companion who narrated them. His works and narrations were crucial links in the chain of transmission for subsequent generations of scholars.
