Maulana Shabbir Ahmed Usmani
Shabbir Ahmad Usmani was an Islamic scholar, writer, politician, and expert in tafsir and Hadith. He was born on October 1887 in Bijnor India. He got his early education from Dar al-Uloom Deoband, where he started teaching after graduation in 1908.
He also served as teacher in Jamiah Islamiah Talimuddin Dabhel. In 1929 he was selected as founding member of Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi.
He was among the pro-Pakistan fraction of Deobandi’s and he founded a new and separate political party called the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam in 1945, when he joined Muslim League under guidence of Qaid e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.
He served JUI as its first president, after the partition of India, he became a member of the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan, and remained a member until his death in 1949.
