Abu al-Fiḍa Imad Ad-Din Ismail ibn Umar ibn Kathir al-Qurashi Al-Damishqi (إسماعيل بن عمر بن كثير القرشي الدمشقي أبو الفداء عماد الدين), famously known as Ibn- Kathir (ابن كثير) was a popular Arab historian and scholar from Syria.
He is considered an expert on Tafsir and Fiqh. He was considered as the most intellectual students of Ibn-Taymiyyah. Among his books are included Tafsir al-Quran al-Aẓim, highly regarded especially among Salafi school of thought, and universal history titled Al-Bidaya wa’l-Nihaya.
