Allama Sayyid Alawi bin Abbas al-Maliki al-Hasani محمد بن علوي المالكي was a highly respected 20th-century Islamic scholar and Mufti from Mecca, Saudi Arabia. He served as the leading Maliki scholar of his time in the Hijaz, holding prestigious teaching posts at the Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) and the Sharia Faculty of Umm al-Qura University. Known for his profound knowledge in Maliki jurisprudence and Hadith, he was instrumental in maintaining the traditional curriculum of Islamic sciences. His extensive scholarly work and the numerous influential students he taught established him as a key figure in the chain of traditional knowledge transmission in the holy cities, with his legacy continued prominently by his son, Sayyid Muhammad bin Alawi al-Maliki.
