Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya ابن قيم الجوزية

Imam Shams ad-Din Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah (d. 1350 CE / 751 AH), widely known as Ibn al-Qayyim, was a towering figure in Islamic intellectual history, renowned as the most prominent student and intellectual heir of Ibn Taymiyyah. A prolific scholar, he seamlessly integrated Hadith, Jurisprudence (Fiqh), Theology (Aqidah), Tafsir, and especially Spiritual Psychology (Tazkiyat al-Nafs). His works, such as Zad al-Ma’ad and Madarij al-Salikin, are critical for understanding Hanbali methodology and are celebrated for their profound depth in exploring the connection between righteous action and the purification of the soul. Ibn al-Qayyim’s legacy continues to shape modern Islamic thought and Salafi scholarship.
